Prospectus

This call for art is open August 14, 2023 at 12:01 AM CST, through October 29, 2023 at 11:59 PM CST.

If artists have not previously done so, all entrants must register with ArtCall.org before submitting their work.  Registration and logon links are located in the top right corner of this page.

Submission to the call verifies the artist has read, understands and accepts the terms and conditions of the call.  Those can be viewed by clicking the link at the lower left corner of any page.

Artists may submit up to 5 sculptures for consideration.  The submission fee for the first two entries is $25 each.  Additional entries after the first two are $18 each.

Entrants should provide up to 3 high quality color photos of the front, back and side of each sculpture entry, or photos of a maquette.  Submitted images must be jpg files between 960px and 3600px on the long side at 72px/inch resolution.  If you are unsure how to resize your images to these parameters this video should help: https://youtu.be/1cLfrF2x_OA

If your work is in progress, then provide model of your sculpture.  It must be accompanied with a photo of one or two of your other original sculptures that show a good example of your quality of work.  Be aware the call site only allows you to submit 3 images per entry.  If you feel you need to provide additional images of your work samples you may send them to Steve Knight at baytownsculpturetrail@gmail.com.  Be sure and include the ArtCall registration number in the email.

Sculpture must be a minimum of 36 inches in height not including any pedestal.

Sculpture must be family friendly subject matter.

A stainless-steel plate or steel strips should be securely attached to the bottom of each piece allowing it to be welded to a base for safe display.  We prefer steel strips as they allow air to circulate between the sculpture and pedestal top to reduce rust.  The plates/strips should be no less than 1”wide and ¼” thick and extend NO MORE than 2” beyond the base of the sculpture. Sculpture Trail volunteers and welders with necessary expertise, equipment and manpower will unload and install each artwork and secure it to the assigned display base.

Provide an artist’s statement in the designated call for entry field explaining the sculpture.

The Sculpture Trail will not accept sculpture entries that are identical to sculptures already installed or to be installed in other similar public art programs within a 200-mile radius of Baytown.  If a sculpture in this circumstance has already been placed in the Sculpture Trail exhibition it will not be eligible for any awards.

All sculptures should be made of durable materials for the year long outdoor setting and constructed with safety in mind for display in a public setting.

The Baytown Sculpture reserves the right to refuse entry of an accepted artwork if the sculpture arrives and does not meet the above criteria.

The Sculpture Trail will provide liability and Inland Marine comprehensive insurance on all sculptures.
